It's been a little over a year since I decided to start "living the dream" as a real live photographer. I had just become a mother and was trasitioning into a work-from-home, stay-at-home routine, and while I love my day jobs (motherhood and graphic designer), I found my love of photography growing along with my new son. Other than being the best mother I can be and keeping up with the laundry, taking pictures is what I want to do. With encouragement from my husband and my family, I took the plunge and created a Facebook page. That was step one.
Well, let me back up. My dad is a photographer -- a great one, too. I grew up around photography and always enjoyed it. As a graphic and web designer, I was lucky enough to have several opportunities to learn and use photography in the workplace. Friends started to ask me to take photos for them. I hauled my camera around, took pictures of everything while my patient husband waited, and listened to everything my dad had to tell me. And then one day, a friend asked me to be the photograher at her wedding. I may have been more nervous at her wedding than at my own -- but it was amazing. I realized I could do it -- that I was a photographer.
Over a year later, two more weddings, a couple of really cute babies and a bunch of fun families, I'm still having a great time. I've grown a lot as a photographer, and feel more inspired than ever. It's taken a few late nights, but my fancy new website is up and running. As I went through my portfolio to put together the galleries on this site, I felt so grateful. Grateful for my clients, who trust me with their memories. Grateful I have the opportunity to pursue a dream. And grateful for my family, who support and encourage me.
Welcome to my fancy new website!
